“Oatley is a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Oatley is located 16 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Georges River. The population of Oatley was 6,352 in the 2016 census.
Oatley was named after Oatlands House, an estate in Tasmania owned by Sir Henry Parkes, then Premier of New South Wales. The estate was later subdivided and sold off as housing lots. The first land sales took place in 1885. Oatley railway station opened on 1 May 1884.
The surrounding suburbs are Mortdale to the north, Lugarno to the east, Penshurst to the south and Blakehurst to the west.”
