“Mosman is located on the lower north shore of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is situated on a peninsula that divides Sydney Harbour from Middle Harbour. The population of Mosman was 22,569 as of the 2016 census. The suburb is within the local government area of Mosman Council.
Mosman is surrounded by other suburbs on three sides: to the north by Neutral Bay and Cremorne; to the east by North Sydney and Lavender Bay; and to the south by Sydney Harbour National Park.
The suburb has a long history dating back to 1789 when it was first surveyed. It was named after Sir Edward Smith-Stanley, 13th Earl of Derby, who was British Prime Minister from 1858 to 1859. Mosman was proclaimed a municipality in 1879.”
