“Randwick is located in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The population of Randwick is around 17,000 and the local government is the City of Randwick. The suburb is surrounded by other suburbs including Coogee, Clovelly, Maroubra, Botany Bay, and Kingsford.
The first inhabitants of the area were the Cadigal people. The first European to visit the area was James Cook in 1770. In 1809, John Macarthur established his property “Elizabeth Farm” in the area. Randwick began to be developed in the 1830s and 1840s as a residential suburb. It was first known as “the Glebe”. In 1858, the first public school was established in Randwick. The railway line from Sydney to Randwick was opened in 1859.”
