“Kingsford is a suburb in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Kingsford is located 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) south-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Randwick. Kingsford is surrounded by the suburbs of Coogee, Maroubra, Matraville and Randwick.
The population of Kingsford was 10,788 in 2016. Prior to European settlement, the area was inhabited by the Cadigal people. The first land grant in the area was made to Captain John Macarthur in 1804. The name “Kingsford” is derived from an early landowner, Alfred King. The first houses were built in the 1890s. Kingsford was proclaimed a suburb in its own right in 1948.”
