The efforts to assist soldiers in capturing the culprits of Henry’s death led to naming the place after the girl. This is the most popular theory used in explaining the naming of Narrabeen.

Before the British invasion, Narrabeen was home to the Garigal or Caregal people. The settlers’ survival was based on the supplication of water, fish, and temporary shelter, among other things. The settlement would, however, change following the British invasion. In essence, the Aboriginal people migrated to other locations as the British invaders took over the area.
